Calver Parish Council

The Parish Council wished to dedicate an area of the village green to creating a children's playground, a facility lacking in the village. Fund raising efforts had concentrated on buying play equipment but addional funding was required for the ground preparation and surfacing to good standards.

A £5,919 Community Resilience Grant awarded by Derbyshire Dales District Council was able to provide this funding to kickstart the project. The playground was officially opened by the Duke of Devonshire in April 2025.

Sally Whitham (Vice Chair) says:

The grant helped us start the project of creating a playground for the children of our village. We have raised some funds forequipment but needed more for the preparation of the land and surface before starting. As we raise more funds, we will be able to add more.
