Hartington Creamery is the smallest of only four creameries licenced to make Stilton cheese in the world. The company uses traditional handmade methods of cheese making, techniques that have passed down through multiple generations of cheese makers. They also make a milder flavoured soft blue cheese to complement the Stilton.
A £7,513 Small Business Adaptation Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council was used to purchase new stainless steel filters and pipework to allow milk to get to a different part of the creamery - enabling soft blue cheese to be made in larger quantities.
Robert Gosling (Owner/Director) says:
The grant funding from Derbyshire Dales District Council allowed us to invest in new milk lines from the pasteurizer into a new soft blue room to increase our production of these types of cheese.
