Hathersage Memorial Hall consists of three halls, along with associated facilities, and is a popular venue for a wide range of activities and community events. It is a charity run by a management committee of volunteers.
A £5,591 Community Resilience Grant from Derbyshire Dales District council helped pay for roof insulation for the two smaller halls. Previously these halls had no roof insulation and the cost of heating them was high.
Philip Benson (Treasurer) says:
The grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council has helped us to insulate the roof of our smaller two halls. We believe that the roof is the original structure built in 1928 and there was no insulation between the ceiling and the external roof. The cost of heating was high and both halls rapidly cooled down when the heating was turned off. The insulation has helped to lower our heating bills, as well as reducing the carbon footprint of the hall.
