Wild Roots Creative is a Wirksworth-based social enterprise which provides opportunities to experience nature based activities including crafts, conservation and creativity to support mental health and wellbeing.
The group offers experiences for people of all ages and abilities to help build confidence, skills and networks; with the aim of supporting people to lead better lives.
They work with a wide range of clients – including isolated members of the community, adults suffering poor mental health, children currently unable to attend school, people recovering from addiction and adults with learning disabilities.
The £4,408 Community Resilience Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council UKSPF grant enabled them to provide more craft for wellbeing sessions throughout the winter months. They were able to increase their capacity and attract new members, some of whom have taken on volunteering roles. As a result people have made new connections and been able to form friendships outside of the group, supporting their wellbeing.
Sally Wheal (Director) says:
Funding from the UKSPF grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council has been invaluable in helping support the mental and social wellbeing of our group. We all know winter can be difficult but the extra sesisons have meant there is more regular activity for those who need it.
