Thorpe Village Hall is the heart of this small community which lies on the western edge of the Derbyshire Dales. It is used for a wide variety of community activities – fitness classes, coffee mornings, parties and much more.
Having undertaken an extensive programme of upgrading and refurbishment of the village hall, it was recognised that there was a problem with excessive echo and sound reverberation.
To overcome this issue a £6,315 Community Resilience Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council helped pay for sound absorbing acoustic roof panels and window blinds.
John Bailey (Trustee, Thorpe Village Hall) says:
The Community Resilience Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council enabled us to continue with our strategic improvement of Thorpe Village Hall from a 1930s building to the most modern user friendly small village hub centre.
