UK Hempcrete specialises in the use of hemp-lime and other biobased materials in construction. The company exists to help de-carbonise the construction sector (a sector that is responsible for 40% of carbon emissions globally). Bio-based construction solutions are used in both the new build and retrofit sectors, thus helping the UK achieve its 2050 climate emissions reduction targets.
A £8k Small Business Adaptation Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council was used to purchase new digital hardware including new Apple computers, high specification screens and a thermal imaging camera.
The new IT equipment has enabled the company to upgrade to the most recent versions of design and building design software and collaborate more seamlessly with partners in the industry. The camera gives clients a clear understanding of how an heritage buildings is performing thermally, and this informs the development of a detailed retrofit plan.
Alex Sparrow (Managing Director) says:
The grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council has improved the technical hardware we have available in our company, improving the services we are able to offer to clients, and facilitating more seamless collaboration with partners in the wider construction sector.
Having better technical hardware resources in place has opened the door to team development and we have begun employing new staff, which would not have been possible without the new hardware purchases this grant made possible.
