The Edlaston and Wyaston Social Committee is responsible for managing Wyaston village hall, a community building used for local events and hired out to various groups for activities. The hall is a busy and popular asset, providing a focus for many social activities within the parish and neighbouring villages.
The wooden floor area of the main hall is over 40 years old and was in need of renovation by sanding and resealing the surface to provide a safer and cleaner environment for the social functions held there.
A £2,108 Community Resilience Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council helped pay for renovation of the floor, ensuring that current users are retained and new customers attracted to use the space.
Richard Allsopp (Chairman) says:
The Edlaston and Wyaston Social Committee is indebted to the Derbyshire Dales District Council through the Community Resilience Scheme for its generous grant covering 80% of the costs involved in the floor project. This has enabled us to complete the renovation programme necessary to bring the Hall up to the required standard both esthetically and for health and safety reasons. Many compliments have been received from hirers/users saying how much nicer the Hall now looks.
