Guidad is an accessibility consultancy and inclusive design service helping museums and cultural venues become more welcoming spaces to people with visible and non-visible disabilities. Services include access audits, bespoke handling objects, sensory engagement tools, audio additions and 3D custom items.
Founded by Alicia Bloundele, who herself has complex visual and sensory needs, the aim of the company is to help redesign cultural spaces to be interactive, inclusive, and accessible for all.
A £5,153 Small Business Adaptation Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council helped Alicia to invest in essential tools and training to deliver more specialised accessibility solutions. This included purchasing a 3D printer and computer and upskilling in 3D design and access auditing.
Alicia Bloundele (Founder) says:
Whilst the application process was a challenge, the outcome has been a fantastic reward for Guidad. The Small Business Adaptation Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council allowed us to invest in the tools and skills we needed to bring inclusive design to life - through 3D printing, sensory-focused objects and hands-on access solutions that simply weren’t possible before.
Receiving the grant gave Guidad the momentum to move from vision to action. It not only supported essential equipment and training, but also validated the importance of accessibility-led innovation in the cultural sector.
